Her face was like a newborn baby,
always smiling with the eyes of pure innocence.
To her, everything was brand new.
Her new eyes opened up, working to piece together all the new shapes and colors they discovered.
When she laughed at the little games we played, it was as if the sun poured down onto her face,
making everything else in the room seem overcast and dark.
Nothing brought me more joy than to watch her tiny eyelids flutter as she dreamed,
or to see her face light up when “The Little Mermaid” was on.
Her curly hair bounced as she ran around her bedroom,
her treasured Cinderella dress swaying along with her.
Although she’s older now, that little girl I used to babysit will always remind me this:
It’s the small things in life that bring us the most joy.
