I remember the cold night as I walk through the woods,
crying in pain as new fears overtake my life.

Throughout the woods, I seek the leaves,
crinkled with aversion to sense my ease.

Amid the wind, the birds chirp,
And me, I sit, and glance a smirk.

The rainbow above, like a sign from God,
To forget my memories, but I cannot move on.

The beings of fear overtake my pride,
like my past from that old winter’s night.

Away from the chaos and trouble I seek,
I lie in my grandfather’s tree house at the top of the peak.

I see my hopes and wishes there amid the clouds,
But why, oh why, can’t I get it?
Up on the ledge, wind pulls me over, and I fall into a horrid pledge.

The tree house, so high that I think I could fly,
Reaching for my destiny, a new hope brightens up.

The horizon, thrown for miles ahead,
I grab a new beginning,
at last the fears from my memories disappear.

I was inspired to write this due to my fears as a kid. But one time my grandfather brought me out to his treehouse in my backyard and I then realized I had nothing to fear.
