One of You
Lately, I’ve been worried
I don’t know what’s wrong with you
Why is it your personality
seems to be split in two?
One of them, I know
It’s the one of you that’s confident
The one I call a friend
The one that I would gladly
Talk to for hours on end
But lately, even more now
Your smile disappears
And the only thing I see in you
Remains a constant fear
Suddenly submissive
Timid and afraid
I don’t know quite who you are
This person that evades
You don’t know my frustration
The anger that’s inside
When the boy who makes me smile
Runs away and hides
You need to find out
Who you are
And throw away your shell
But every time I get you out
You fall back under the spell
Why do I keep trying
if it won’t do any good?
Is it because I love you,
Or am I misunderstood?
