Peneblanca, Philippines
Dirt roads
Connecting small towns
A river flowing
Bring beauty
To this dull place.
A small house
3 rooms
Stuffed to the brim
With a family of 9
We'd sit around
The moon was our light
Talking about everything
That came to mind.
19 hours on a plane
12 in an airport
All became worth it
When my aunt's family
Accepted me as one of my own
Ashley's full of sass
Nadine and her beautiful smile
And Nick,
The shy little boy.
My family was there
Along with my heart.
Everyone knew
The little white girl
Walking around town
Clinging to Marnix's arm.
Marnix was my best friend.
He was:
My translator,
My personal driver
My entertainer
But most of all,
He was my best friend.
Basketball, Bowling and pool
He beat me at all.
Playing crazy eights,
Till the break of dawn.
Sitting in a circle,
With Marnix, Maky
JayJay and Don.
My four favorite boys,
Playing stupid card games
To make me happy.
In America,
I have so much
But there, it means nothing.
Possessions are pointless
If you don't have family.
They taught me so much
And Peneblanca
Is where,
My heart will always belong.
