Battle scars
Painted across your skin
The blade is your sword
The lighter, your torch

The hundred year war,
Against yourself

The war zone,
Being surrounded by people.

The green zone,
Alone.

Your thoughts
are your poison
The meds were your lifeline.
Until your lifeline,
Ran out.

Your lost friends,
Were just casualties,
From your personal war.

Letter to your family,
Were suicide letters
Never sent.

Your fists were bombs,
Creating bruises
Along your body.

Constantly fighting yourself.
Fighting your mind
And fighting for your life.

The worst battles,
Concealed by darkness.
Lasting through the night.
The constant battle
Destroyed you.

You let memories
Tear you down
Until they killed you.

I'll never forget the day,
You lost the war.

This could have been prevented.
But you let it overcome
You let it devour your soul.

This war will down down
In the history books
As the day
Your own thoughts
Defeated you.
