Society's Lessons
Do you honestly want to know me,
Or is this just a courtesy?
Do you actually care how I am,
Or are you just being polite?
You say society
Taught you to listen to others,
But has it ever occurred to you
That society only cares about appearances,
And how we look,
In someone else's eyes?
I doubt you could truly
Tell me when you were exposed,
Bare to the world
And showing your true self.
Not only your ambitions and strengths,
But the demons that control your mind.
Until you release those angels and demons,
You can never truly be free.
But society taught us to stop.
No one actually cares.
The truth is,
We all have walls built;
Controlling our minds.
Whether they are from disappointment,
Or from resentment.
They grow around our hearts.
Because silence,
Is one of society's loudest lessons
