The Few
Life is a mark on a chalkboard
too easily erased
To be wiped from someone's mind
without a blot, without a trace
Another footprint in the sand
how quickly is replaced
By yet another footprint; another unknown face
Or a branch of a tree
cut down without a thought
Left lying on the forest floor
to dampen and to rot
But then there are those certain marks
in our hearts they will remain
They will act as light in darkness
No matter what life's strain
