My Beautiful Rainbow Butterfly
I knew you were sick,
I didn’t want to believe it,
I didn’t want you to go.
On a clear crystal day,
Not a raindrop in the sky,
A faint portion of a beautiful rainbow appeared.
We gazed at this astonishing rainbow,
And knew it was a sign from you,
You were almost gone, but hadn’t left yet.
The next day,
You were gone.
Sadness filled my body,
I sat in shock and disbelief,
Tears filled my eyes.
As I looked up into the sky,
A beautiful butterfly flew next to me,
It was the most beautiful butterfly there could be.
It stayed for a while,
Then fluttered softly away,
Into a sky of rainbow colors.
I smiled and knew you were okay,
I looked up into the sky and whispered,
“I love you Grandpa.”
