To Hope
Through the darkness sits a candle
alone and flickering. A beacon
in the darkness of a world
emptied of light and warmth.
But it calls all the same.
Moving towards this single candle
can only be meant for good.
Good just for being there
and existing in the dark.
Drawing near, the candle changes,
forming a home’s bonfire,
the only light offered here
in this world. Strange as it is.
For through this candle’s light, is life,
a scarce source in this dark world.
It keeps watch in this place
eyeing what may be lurking.
With the dark you never know,
though there’s safety with a light.
Especially one as bright
and as warm and as good as this.
Calling to those that wander.
Guiding and aiding them
only when they need it most.
The candle, a leading beacon,
bringing the lost back safely.
When all seems lost, follow the light,
as a path back from darkness.
