Nature's Storm
It’s coming,
The wind is blowing,
The rain is coming down like never before.
My hair is flying
The bird on a clear day,
And then I saw it.
I saw the twister,
Coming closer.
I heard snaps,
And explosions,
People screaming.
This is not what we know,
Not like New York weather.
I ran inside to protect myself.
A branch,
A big one,
Came crashing into the window,
Shattering it.
I soon became cold,
Like something had come over me,
To stand up and go outside.
Curiously I walked outside,
To see nothing but an open street.
It was quiet,
Besides the rustling leaves,
And rain pitter pattering on the ground.
I sat down,
In the middle of my driveway,
Embracing nature’s storm,
I closed my eyes.

I found myself in my bed,
Wet,
Cold,
And tired.
I looked outside,
The storm was over,
No more wind,
No more rain,
No more of nature’s storm.
Just the peaceful fall air,
Left to linger ‘til the next storm.
