Thunder booming like screams from the heavens
Lightning flashing like my memories
Tears streaming from the clouds
It's just rain.

Making the air cold and musty
Tiny whistles come from a breeze
The pitter patter sound as it hits the ground
It's just rain.

Pouring from the clouds,
Like my draining thoughts
Are the angels crying?
No.
It's just rain.

This poem was actually an assignment for my Creative Writing class. I was assigned to do a quartet of nature poems which included this piece. I thought that it wasn't as good I expected it to be, until I had a talk with my teacher. She was very impressed and wanted me to submit my poem. I just recently fell in love with rain. The sound, the musty smell, the beautiful gray skies, it all amazes me. I live in Florida, so I understand thunderstorms pretty well. I'm used to them. I hope people enjoy reading my poem, as I had a lot of fun coming up with the idea of this piece.
