If I Had Clothes
Rosy cheeks, frostbite, it hurts a lot.
Numbness, shivering, I should have brought
The warmth with me, the pain it would have saved.
For it is the warmth, the warmth I crave.
I look afar, what are those?
Those, those are clothes.
Clothes! I can only imagine how they feel.
And so, with the cold, I made a deal.
If the cold were to be more forgiving,
“I will give you clothes!” to the cold, I sing.
And so I started running toward those,
Those warm, comforting clothes
The cold, on my skin, prickled.
It danced on my face and tickled.
Like a blanket, it covered me.
The clothes were close, I could see.
But sadly, I could not, did not make it.
And I lie there dead on the pavement
I still remember the day,
When the cold came my way
It was sudden and very sharp,
Like a knife straight to the heart.
But so I was consumed by the cold void,
And to think, it, I could avoid.
Vision blurry, scent dull, all was numb
For not bringing my clothes, I felt dumb.
But it was the warmth that I craved
Oh all the pain it would have saved.
Only if I had those
My warmth, my life, my clothes
