Seasons of the Garden
The garden brims with beautiful flowers
Prickly thorns under delicate petals
Wind whispers silk strands, trees become towers
Spring’s teardrops washing tulips and nettles.
But slowly each rainbow illusion fades
Insects of Summer cower in the grass
Above me the sun screams and glares and raids
Frightened and frantic, birds hover en masse.
Children laugh and fly kites, Autumn leaves fall.
They rustle in the wind, painting the ground.
Bright flowers nod their heads, the crickets call
In the breezy sky, sparrows fly around.
Winter. Snow crunches, frosted leaves and trees
Icy winds declare war, the harsh blasts blow.
But chapped lips won’t stay, this Winter will cease
And one day the river will melt and flow.
