stiff and dead
yet so alive.
From white to gold
the dead petals lay.

Blue ribbon
with an unnatural shine.
The colors
telling the story
I couldn't stand hearing.

Broken easily
with a single touch.
The black and blue
screaming our names.

Knowing that we
and all we've seen and done--
is dead.

Just like the corsage.

The author's comments:
The piece is about a boy...a boy a got along with; he was my best friends and I don't know what I would do without him--but after a while everything had started falling apart; especially after this dance we had attended so our friendship and our relationship started dying and fading just like this corsage he had given me...so I compared him to this beautiful but now dead corsage.
