Introspective

The harsh words
And rash actions
That we take
To hide pain
Through our anger
And our distrust
Of ourselves and
Misunderstandings of feelings
What we don’t
Understand and what
We don’t comprehend.
We are still
Growing into the
People we will
Be forever and
We have to
Live with the
Decisions we make
The lies we
Spread and the
Truth we own
Up to.
Being the person
The eight year-old
You would want
To be, is
A goal we
All want to reach
Like jumping for
That basketball hoop
In the backyard
With your friends
Only eleven years-old.
And in years
To come, change
Will haunt your
Every steps and
Every thoughts and
You won’t know
What to do.
Until you look
Inside you and
Find the truth
What is right
What makes you
Happy, and then
You can focus
On saving the world.

The author's comments:
When you get caught up in teenage drama and all the "he said, she said" situations, sometimes you lose sight of what's important, which is your happiness. And when you lose sight of that, you end up doing things that hurt you later, and it isn't ok. So always take care of yourself first, and put yourself first. Don't be stuck up about it, but know what you need to do to be happy.
