You know they've done studies, 60% of the time it works every time. -Brian Fantana, Anchorman

Sleep can be an antagonist.
When it eludes you, it is war.
You fight to conquer it, but
It uses your intellect against you.
First it arouses thoughts of oversleeping.
Then it inserts thoughts of what tasks need to be completed.
You counter by tossing and turning.
Never comfortable,
You shut your eyes, but sleep knows you’re faking.
You know you’re faking.
Watching T.V. doesn’t redirect your thoughts.
Neither does checking your phone.
Sleep eventually sends its assassin,
And you realize that you will not fall asleep.
You contemplate how your will be on no sleep.
Tired from fighting you decide to give up.
You accept the insomnia,
And wake up the next morning.
