Morning Moments
Moments, precious and so few with her,
He pulls himself from beneath the warm sheets,
To brew their morning pot of bonding,
Before she will see him off to his other life,
The one he lives when she leaves his side—
Dreading every second that isn’t filled with her light.
He was not expecting her to wrap her arms around his neck,
Pull him back down into bed,
Refuse to let him depart from her without casual love—
She plants kisses along his exposed chest,
Makes her way up to naturally soft lips,
And she clings to the seed that will bloom there.
It seems as though days only begin so nicely,
When he wakes with her golden hair teasing his nose—
Time seems to march on so quickly,
Leaving the two of them in failure to catch up,
A feat that is never as easy as it sounds,
One that neither of them wish to truly embark upon.
