Lies Beyond Looks
5 AM scruff and dark, sleek hair,
Eyes toasted with stories and secrets,
A stature of arrogance, humble at times,
Lips that aligned in perfect measure—
Never once were these her favorite things,
Nothing she had ever ventured out for.
It was after a heart could be seen,
Through all of his miserable qualities,
After there was more than a story, damage,
Scars that needed words of explanation—
She saw more than desire in appearance,
Craved to know what rested in his soul.
She found so quickly in their time,
That anyone can be enticing to the eye,
It does take more than a baby face, however,
To win over her very own soul—
With determination, he did get it,
Not knowing that, for her,
It was all about the tales he told.
