Flames
Smoke blots out the sun.
Fire is rising in the distance.
Its flames consume everything it touches.
Planes fly overhead.
Napalms fall like hail.
They destroy all that they land on.
The street is the only escape.
Men, women, and children flee for their lives.
Their homes are gone.
Their loved ones are gone.
Everything except for their lives have been taken from them.
A girl, no older than eight, is among them.
Her clothes have been burnt off.
She is running but she cannot see.
Her eyes are squished shut.
She is crying.
Her mouth is opened in a terrified scream,
a scream that no one can hear.
