Letting Go
I’ve wondered if you ever think of me
Or of the times when we would always talk
These memories are as sweet as can be
But now you’re gone, they twist my heart and mock
The dreams I had when you were by my side
Your sunny smile was my world’s source of light
But then you left and that light shrunk and died
My heart was empty and my chest felt tight
And as time passed, I shed near all my tears
Yet I’d keep hoping that you would come back
But silence verified my deepest fears
So dreams of me and you now fade to black
And though my heart aches, now I truly know
That now’s the time for me to let you go
