So, this is what eagles say church is
A cult that is nothing more.
A cult that rebukes the eagle’s ignorance,
But yet adores its luscious beauty.

For whatever the eagles say, church is more.
More than good deeds and light-filling smiles,
More than meaningful songs and powerful messages
It is more than a mere cult or religion.
It is a community, a city.

God’s city
A city that has lights that shines like the morning sun.
A city that is on their knees
A city that hopes the eagles will see
That church is much, much more.

So, this is what I say church is
A city that is my home, my Safe Haven
A city that loves the eagles,
But yet prays that they will see
A city that is what church is to be.

I have been asked to write about my favorite place and what came to mind was how church has always been described. I wanted to say something about that. Also, I was always asked what the eagle symbolizes. The eagle symbolizes the United States or, if you wish, America.
