Walking down a pebbled road on a windy fall afternoon,
Laying in front of me was a beautiful pearl white petal.
Just one.
I admired it and continued walking.
A thought popped into my mind.
That single petal
had a whole journey,
Yet all I saw when it laid before me,
Was its destination.
It grew from a small seed,
Reaching for sun and air.
It was a part of a flower,
Its family.
It watched people walk by,
Some noticed it,
Some did not.
As it developed,
It became even more beautiful,
And experienced life in a new dynamic.
It then grew older,
Knowing its journey was coming to an end.
The time had come.
It said good bye to its family.
Its journey continued.
As this single petal released
its strength from holding on to its family,
The soft, gentle wind carried it.
The petal glided over mountains, in valleys,
And on to the pebbled road that
I was walking on.
I ran back to the spot where
the petal and I had our encounter,
But the petal was gone.
I guess its journey was not over.
