The Contract
Every breath you take, an apology
Every apology you speak to me, a false promise
Every promise you made, just another broken hope
Silence, silence, ghost of a love I once knew
 Cannot handle the pain anymore
 As I begin to carve
my broke dreams into my soul
 Cannot trust, cannot save me
I look into the eyes of a new love
Wake up to a sun that still shines
Move on, move on, go on
 But you linger there, whispering
Hissing that no one will ever love me
Care for me like you could
Silence, silence, I will not entertain
All of these thoughts, dashed and rotten
I will no longer bow to your fury
And you laugh in my face
And you begin to tell me that I
Signed my name on the dotted line
"You’ll never stop belonging to me."
