Some Things Are Unforgiven
There are some things simply unforgiven.
Like the pill bottle
she has hidden in closet.
Or the lies she fed me,
when I was naive.
"I'm sorry"
"I promise"
"I won't do it again"
As the social worker threatened
to take her children away.
They go to school,
broken smiles, bad grades.
"I understand what you're going through"
They lie,
because that's all they know what to say.
Somethings are beyond repair,
Some things are simply unforgiven.
