&ldquo;I&#039;m selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can&#039;t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don&#039;t deserve me at my best.&rdquo; <br /> - Marilyn Monroe

You see children everywhere
with sunken eyes and no hair
they seem to have no hope
it puts your heart in a rope
to see these humans
that look like demons
they are possessed with cancer

It comes in every shape and form
the families are torn
between hope and despair
do they dare
let them slip away
because they can't stay
between hope and despair

No, they fight for what's right
in the heat of the night
because their heart is set
to make a net
and catch them when they fall
then build a wall
to keep out the beast
and delay his feast
cause that's their baby lying there
crying cause she has no hair
wondering if they'll be a tomorrow
filled with anxiety and sorrow

They try to be brave
but they feel betrayed
why is that their child lying there
with tubes and wires on her body everywhere
doctors running in and out
they just want to shout
will our daughter be okay?

And people tell you they understand
and they will gladly lend a hand
but they can't even fathom
the mental spasm
that comes with the pain
of making no gain
in the uphill struggle
where there's always trouble
with every punch and swing
you feel the sting
of the ravenous beast

But along the way
they will not stray
from the common goal
of playing the role
of protector and lover
and guarding mother
but there's only so much they can do

They hope and pray
every single day
though it may seem in vain
they wipe away the pain
cause good always wins
but it may seem dim
things will get bright
to lighten up the fight
and blind the thing
that caused the pain and the sting
and drive him away
to make him pay
for all that he's done
and in the year's to come
