Porcelain Doll

I sank like a porcelain doll,
pale skin whiter than the sand.
My hair spread into a halo,
my clothes into wings.
My lips became a permanent smile
sealed with the secrets of the past.
My eyes shone bright and glassy
no longer held down by gloom.
As I descended from Hell,
I found Heaven on the sand,
the cold, dark water
tucking me into bed
as I became a porcelain doll.
