"You never know how strong you are, until being strong is the only choice you have."

Walking through the park on a crisp winter night,
where the streetlights shine subtle, yet bright.
I look around only to see a little smoke,
I take a deep breath, and begin to choke.

I awoke from my own little world,
now all I see are teenagers dressed in black, all twirled.
Under the pavilion after hours, kids chillin’ and smokin’ weed,
getting high, thinking their so chill, indeed.
It makes me disgusted how they think it’s so chill,
drug dealing occurs, not providing will increase the bill.

They don’t understand that drugs will ruin their lives,
they get the reputation that they are dropouts and carry knives.
I don’t feel sorry for this is the life they chose,
I oppose the weed life as I see smoke coming out of their nose.

They think their so chill, wearing pants down to their knees,
and tattoos up and down their arms like sleeves.
Getting kicked out for bringing it to school,
yeah, they’re so cool.

More and more kids are exposed to drugs,
the music industry and celebrities are creating little thugs.
Rappers and singers act as if getting high is the way to go,
kids jump on the bandwagon and go with the flow.
They get addicted and can’t say no,
the careless parents will never know.

Will never know their kids turned bad,
due to the influences and songs they had.
Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg say getting high and weed is alright,
saying if kids smoke their lives will be bright.
Once again I stand here and say,
that drugs and weed should go away.

This a social critique poem I wrote for our class. I am very passionate that kids and frankly everyone should be drug and alcohol free! I wanted to write this for the people who are scared to stand up and preach what they believe.
