"To dare is to lose one's footing momentarily. Not to dare is to lose oneself." -S. Kierkegaard

I have a close friend
Such a close friend
She’s like sun rays in
The winter
Passing through the trees
The bright gold
The bright green
The bright earth colors
And the leaves
They all remind me of her
But her heart’s
more intriguing
Like a pearl twenty thousand
Leagues under the sea
She’s ineffably deep
but she’s also and verily
like taking a first breath
and her name
is bailey.

I wrote this during my physics class about my lab partner. I don't normally write poetry like this. But i decided to experiment that day and I just tried to capture my perception of her into a relatively small poem. After she read it she looked at me excitedly and said "This is me!" and oh my gosh.. that was the best thing she could have said. She's really a dear friend of mine.
