Out with the old
The new fad in human relations
is not speaking face to face
not even picking up the phone.
The new fad in communication
is touch-pad clicking
--letter after letter--
perhaps a space between
maybe a period or comma
it’s a whole new language
Spelling and grammar?
Nope,
gone with the wind.
run over by the speed of life
mangled by thumbs that move too fast
for independent clauses
by minds too amped on trivia
for intelligent discourses
Who knew there were so many abbreviations?
The apostrophe? Possession and plurals--it’s all the same.
i c u r going to kill me!
The steering wheel between your knees
and your face in your Iphone
all I see is the top of your dome!
o plz dnt smsh into me
Text me, just text me, you can text me
But “why don’t you respond faster? Text me back!”
Contrary to your beliefs,
I cook food without a phone
I walk the dog without my phone
I don’t live to text or stare at the LCD screen continuously.
