I, unabsorbed by obvious beauty about.

My eyes deliberately, yet carefully open.
The world around me is a blur, and I feel it
between pulses.

I rise from the water, each step slower than
the last.
Looking up to the edge of the universe, my lips
tremble.

Empty, and everything inside me.

The sky, a color unseen, as were the eyes that
oversaw me.
My perception went on for miles, but all I caught
was nothing.

As soft as this desolation was, it burned from the
marrow in my bones.
I fed off the rust of nearby sunken ships and planes,
until I too, passed.

All of the locusts, so solemnly sing damned.

The inspiration for this piece was the idea of a place where sheer isolation is all that existed.
