Yellow
Yellow is sound of laughter on Easter morning
It’s the way the sun tickles your nose on the first day of Spring
It’s when your dress twirls while you dance
Engulfing you in a sea of cloth
Yellow is falling asleep in the park
And waking up to the tongue of a dog that stumbled upon you in his game of fetch
It’s when you curse the dry eyes, wet noses, and hay fever
Because you’re not even playing for goodness sakes
It’s your son’s first t-ball game
Yellow is the song of the blue jay in the morning
When the flowers start to bloom
And suddenly it seems as if the hours of gardening were worth it
Yellow is the little girl with the contagious smile
Who’s arms are always stretched in an unavoidable hug
