Midnight on Coral Reef Drive
Finally, the stars ignite, what bright lights! And what brown eyes you have, and I confess, what a mistake! I am six years too late. And while you warm my hands, the static sky peers down and says, "2,190 days you've had, to change your stars, to change your fate." You look down at me to say, "Look, Orion has shown his face."
And finally! A meteorite! So quick and so sleek. But you smile, and suddenly I am starry-eyed, much like the galaxies interlaced in your bronze eyes. The smallest expression leaving me shaken, you are the brightest, mightiest constellation.
See, one day all of us will be ashes, ashes and dust
And maybe just maybe some of us have wished for better, but if stellar suns are what we shall become, whether now or soon, I wish to be your moon; tethered to you, when we end, when we are consumed... much like those who
still trail, lonely in this sky, who in their lives may have also lied, here, tongue-tied, after scaling their cars to be closer to the stars-
...and although they linger reflecting in our eyes, none of them could have ever been as luminous as you , as us intertwined, here at 22, on Coral Reef Drive.
