your eyelids are as thin as tissue paper.
you blink with those
lavender
and pale-green veined
lids and i can tell you are unhappy.
i am so alone, you say.
don't cry.
you want to bury yourself in sleep, to
push away the wrinkled hurt by drowning it before it has a
chance to cry out.
don't sleep yet.
don't give in to your
dark dreams yet.
stay up with me, for most nights even the stars
do not sleep.

do not be pulled under by yourself.
