The Broken Fool
There was something inside, keeping me far from the light.
The voice that whispers in the night, the creature creeping in my mind.
I’m not myself but I’ve never been, and no one knows what they’ve never seen.
People laugh and I absorb it like a strange, cryptic dance.
I wind my web to keep them entranced.
I want to scream but who will hear?
I could reach out but no one is near.
Blindfolded to see only what I show, deep down I want them all to know.
Mending the scars, invisible marks;
The numbness in my broken heart.
