Courage

Courage.
It gets you places
you would have never thought.
In one instant my world saw peace.
In on instant of courage
I fell in love.

A give and take
of beauty and goodness.
Kisses slow as molasses
and sweet as jam
Pure. Tender.

A step of courage and I dared you.
A step of courage and you said
yes.
A step of courage to go further
and in those steps I discovered
love for the first time.
Happiness blossoming like tulips,
developing in the dark corners
of my mind.

Dare to speak
Dare to let go, fall asleep,
break apart.

No talking, more kissing
you say
And surround my body
with the warmth of yours.
Dousing me with the scent of your skin
Leaving traces of your perfume
on my clothes to remember.

Courage.
Begging.
Pleading.
Needing.
Loving.

Making us forget our pain, our worries.
Filling the holes inside our hearts.
Breathing as one,
A transfer of silver air from the lips of an angel
Familiarizing ourselves with
each others innermost thoughts, feelings

Courage took me as high as I could ever go.
Courage brought me to you.

This poem was written right after I had my first sexual encounter. It describes my deepest thoughts on the matter, and truly represents what it meant to me, from my perspective. It was beautiful and inspiring, and it flowed out me truthfully and easily.
