Ah, So This is Myself

I see myself
as I once was.

I see myself standing
in an empty parking lot
at the age of 12,
looking out onto the most beautiful
sunset
I thought I could imagine,
and thinking to myself
"I hope this feeling
stays with me forever."

And it comes back to me
every now and then,
when I take the right thing
and experience
the right situations,
or in a dream
that betrays,
for a moment,
the wake.
