My Shore.
I feel your hand tighten around mine,
I feel your smile grip my heart.
I can almost feel the clouds touching my thoughts,
And suddenly I am dragged.
Back to the earth,
Where I lie on its cold, hard, dirty ground.
My hand has lost your grip,
My heart can no longer feel you.
Too far out of reach,
Like a sea gull just in view of land,
But seems to move farther away with each flap.
But as I close my eyes no longer focused on the shore,
But it is your face I see,
Your cologne I smell.
As it replaces the smell of the ocean that’s over powering me.
I can hear your voice.
Laughing as I fly trying to impress you.
And suddenly my wings are gone,
And instead I am wrapped in your arms,
I am safe,
I am on MY shore.
