checkmate
you hurt me again
cut deep with your words like knives
sliced me open and tore me in two
have I not given you everything?
all I had to offer
you took it and gave me nothing in return
kicked me to the gutter and watched me fall
you killed me
I was dead for the longest time
took me forever to see the light
but angels have carried me up
stitched me together again
thread like steel; unbreaking
you are as shallow as a tide pool
I am the ocean
forever moving
forever free from you
you can’t hurt me now
your marionette cut herself free
I won’t be your chess piece anymore
I was a bad bishop for the longest time but
what goes around comes back around
