Where Few Dare Travel: Beyond A Book's Cover
Who looks beyond the cover?
I mean really who would care
If a modest little book
could have anything to share?
If you saw an average book,
with a cover worn and plain,
would you take a gander through?
or ignore it with disdain?
If you saw another work
that had elegance to spare,
would you merely pass it by?
or would you stop, look, and stare?
what if, by chance, you were told
these old volumes were the same,
however one seemed tempting,
whilst the other one seemed tame?
Would you believe me reader?
would you take the time to see?
would you look past the cover,
to find truth in fantasy?
Most, I'm sad to say, would not,
they would turn the other cheek,
denying it's existence,
or requiring critique.
But what about you reader?
If you had to make the choice,
would you judge just the cover,
or explore the authors voice?
