Death and Desperation
Death and Desperation
In the dirty, crowded, trenches where men hide
Frightened, sad, proud
Facing the dutiful horrors
Still trying to stand tall even after losing friends
Holding their hands while they take their last breath
Whispering their last message into your ear.
Friendship, loyalty, honour
You try to hold on to the ones who grew dear.
You have to keep remembering your family until the battlefield is clear.
No one should have to face this horror called War,
Nightmarish fears and unnecessary tears.
