Strolling Down the Sidewalk
I strolled down the sidewalk
In the mood for some Noodles and Co.
Downtown Arlington Heights was bright and sunny
It was the ideal day for some penne rosa with breaded chicken and
"Hey you, kid."
Said the man in the black on black
bulky vest
firearms at the ready
I wanna see your ID.
Gimme your name and nationality
I fished around for something to prove my identity
I was in 7th grade
My wallet was of no use to me at all time
I'm Indian and my name is Anto
I calmly said
Are you sure, kid?
Yes, I would like to think so officer
Okay, you can go now
I thought you were a 13 year old Hispanic kid selling cannibis
I would guess that's my crime
My fault
The taboo
The faux pas
Appearing to be what I'm not
