Starry Night
The distraught eye of my ailing mind
Sees the stars loom in the hot, heavy sky
I know what is coming as I watch the sky lift and fall
gasping at the saturated draft of my collapsed, distraught mind.
Soft winds lost in tornadoes of color
Colors so bright I doubt they exist in your realm
I am Floating, drifting, flying through the sky.
Then I am falling in a panic, convulsing.
I feel the ground as it cracks and crumbles
Falling piece by piece into the liquid abyss
That then slips into a can of paint
And now with the strokes of a brush
I try to piece back together my ill mind
I recreate my fateful leap from reality
And through the cracks of asylum walls
The starry night shines.
