A Tribute to Abby
I hold the precious picture in my shaking hand,
trying to remember the good times when we used to play.
You were the first dog I remember being close to.
And Although I knew it was coming...
It’s so hard to let go.
I remember walking you down the street.
We’d search for your favorite sticks,
and I’d smile as you pounced on one.
You were my best friend, my sister...
But now... you're gone...
I would hear you whining in the night,
I’d come and comfort your bad dreams away.
I’d lay in the dog bed next to you, not leaving your side...
When my mom told me the news...
My heart broke in two.
I don’t care what dog I meet,
or how cute the others are.
You will always be the only one....
