Those Lost Souls
I am lost
 The watery waves
 And wavering winds surrounding me
 know.
 Opaque skies
 And silvery stones
  know.
 Those children,
 Those sticky-fingered cracker nibbling babies
 they know.
But with age, they too will
 Transform.
 Adults can smile and pretend
 But they don’t know
how far away I really am.
I am one of those lost souls
 in the world.
 Floating
 With nowhere to go.
 I have no one,
Nothing to grab with those white knuckles
 Nothing to grab in that
 Forever closed opaque sky…
 Trapped
 And it’s closing…
 Closing ever so
 Slowly….
 I am screaming,
 Shouting
Waving my arms, shouting for someone
 To hear
 But they don’t.
 They don’t want to hear.
They pretend like nothing is wrong.
 But there is.
Oh! There are so many things that are wrong.
There is no one left to hope for me,
no one left to dream of me,
 no one to miss me.
 It’s too late
 We are all but
 Just a memory
 And most of all
 Those lost souls
 Are left unheard…
