It's competition
You step out onto the floor,
The pressure of competition building inside.
Your heart races and adrenaline rushes through you,
Like a rollercoaster throughout your body.
The intimidation of the other teams is unbearable,
Considering that you are the underdog.
As you approach your first event you can feel yourself tremble.
Shaking, just like a leaf in the autumn season.
Salute the judges, and you rely on your memory of routines to take over.
Two minutes, the approximate duration of a routine,
Is all it takes to make or break you here.
In the moment of completion, a wave of satisfaction comes over you.
The smile of your coaches and teammates confirms it all.
You smile yourself, and you know you have just done,
Exactly what you were meant to do.
