Push The Limits
Dirt road
Dark sky
Fields. That’s all I see.
My heart is beating.
I need to get out.
In a blink of an eye, I’m in the drivers seat.
My back resting in the old, worn out, black leather seats.
Hands trembling I reach for the ignition.
Turn the key
Hear the roar of the engine
I’m off.
In a blink of an eye, I’m going faster and faster. Pushing the limits.
My eyes catching the speedometer push higher and higher 60, 70, 80.
Hear the pavement rumbling underneath me
I’m gone, but not out of sight.
In a blink of an eye, I see the lights shine in my mirrors. Every flash fills me with adrenaline.
The scream sirens fill my ears with excitement, but I’m not stopping.
Never.
Theirs no use in trying to slow me down.
In a blink of an eye, my foot and gas petal are one, as they sink lower and lower
The cars begging me to speed up.
“Push the limits’.”
I haven’t been here for long, but
In a blink of an eye,
I’m gone
