The valor, purity and perseverance cast a shadow on the white brick wall.
It hangs there waiting its turn on the morning announcements, like a soldier in a line at boot camp.
Why do we mumble this measly mess of words?
Some don’t stand
Or understand.

I stand for freedom of religion and freedom of speech.
I stand for those who gave their lives,
So I can live mine.
I stand for democracy.
I stand for those who made this country a country.
I stand because I am tired of sitting.
