The sun is high; shining so bright it’s blinding
The beach is banging with beachgoers
All smiling and laughing,
Just having a good time
Night comes.
The sun sets and the sky is dark,
Lots of people are still on the beach
The sky gets darker and darker
The wind gets faster and faster
Stopping in our tracks,
Chills are sent through our bodies
Terrified. This isn’t just a storm
Everyone starts running,
Faster than I thought my legs could ever move
Sand pellets smacking my face
Feet flopping against the hard pavement
Pain striking my feet, my whole body
As I run for my life
The biggest storm I’ve ever experienced,
Something so scary it’s unimaginable
Heart racing, I’m panting and,
Drenched in rain
Getting lifted off the ground
I get nervous,
My stomach drops,
As the wind sweeps me away
Screaming for my life
Reacting quickly, she grabs my arm
Pulling me safely to the ground,
Shaking and terrified.
I was saved by my best friend
After that I learned
To never underestimate a storm.
