One...
Once,
upon a time,
one was all
that was needed.
One act of comfort.
One word of repentance.
One good friend to rely on.
One great idea to change the world.
Now,
we require so much more than that.
We need not only a hug, but a box of 100 tissues to make it seem as if we are feeling better.
We feel as if no “sorry” ever means anything. To apologize it must come with a 2-page explanation
and a waiting period to judge if forgiveness is worthy. And trust may still never come again.
We don’t want one good friend. We prefer to have a thousand that we know only in a virtual world.
We don’t want a single idea. A back-up plan is needed. And a third plan, just in case. Lists of ideas and
reasons no longer are even just 100 long. They require 101 ideas. But none may even work.
Wouldn't it be nice,
to go back to those simpler days?
To not waste all those numbers?
Because in the end,
we are still searching for the right one.
All we need is
one.
