Free from the chains you concealed me in
I finally spread my wings and fly
No longer in your tortuous grasp
I finally find my voice
You left me broken and wounded
But your reign of terror has ended
You think I am weak and spineless
But I am stronger than you think
You will not raise your hand to knock me back down
You are not stopping me from finding happiness
No longer trapped in your hole you call a heart
I will find a heart that won’t trap me, but liberate me
Trapped for so long in your dungeon of a heart
The light of reality is blinding, but my eyes will adjust
The future is bright now
You will not drag me back into your darkness
I am finally free

The author's comments:
The poem is about the freedom I felt knowing I could be happy again after getting out of a bad relationship. I hope that people will be able to relate to what I felt.
